Garden Oaks Baptist Church has been part of this neighborhood for more than 85 years. We’re a church of all ages: longtime members, young families, and people who just moved in down the street. We believe the church is a family, and there’s always room for one more.

What to Expect on a Sunday
We gather every Sunday at 10:45 AM at 3206 North Shepherd Drive. Grab a free cup of coffee, find a seat, and come as you are! We sing together, pray, and open the Bible. The service lasts about an hour.
Kids from birth through 5th grade can join Kids Church, or they’re welcome to stay with you. Stop by the lobby afterward. We’d love to meet you and give you a free gift.
Our Story
On September 28, 1941, 57 people started a new church at Garden Oaks Elementary School, when Garden Oaks was still on the edge of Houston. In 1944 they bought two lots on Shepherd Drive. They broke ground in 1947, and by 1950 the church had grown to more than 500 members.
From the beginning, Garden Oaks has believed that part of our life is giving life to other churches. Over the decades, we’ve helped plant more than half a dozen churches and sent missionaries around the world!
