Transition Pastor - Greg Wallace
Greg is a native of Arkansas where he attended the University of Central Arkansas on a football scholarship. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Theology from Southwest College. In 1985, after a successful career in business, he began his ministry as Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Childress, TX. In 1987, Greg was the founding pastor of First Baptist Church of Atascocita. FBC grew rapidly, leading Greg to a ministry as a consultant to new and small churches through his own ministry - Quality Church Growth Inc.
In August 1992, Greg became the bi-vocational Pastor of Willow Terrace Baptist Church in Kingwood, TX. In January 1993, Willow Terrace Baptist Church became Woodridge Baptist Church of Kingwood. While balancing a demanding job in the corporate world, the church grew steadily, beginning with 40 people in rental facilities. In order to devote his full time to the church, in December 1999, Greg retired from the business world. The church, now Woodridge Baptist, has grown to 800 + in attendance each week.
Greg retired from Woodridge Baptist Church in 2017 and now serves as Pastor Emeritus. Greg is the author of Only One Way to Live, published in 2004 and Taking the 4xFour Challenge published by Baptist Way Press. He is a frequent leader of various training events including the 4xFour Clinics throughout Texas.
Interim Worship Leader - Kelly Ross
Kelly Ross is a native of Florida and is married to Joan Finfrock-Ross. Kelly and
Joan live in Meadows Place, Texas and share their home with Baylor the beagle.
Joan serves as Children’s minister at Westbury Baptist Church in Houston.
Kelly is a veteran Minister of Music with many years serving churches in Florida,
Alabama, Texas and Mississippi. Kelly received his education at Troy University
and Baptist College of Florida. He also has done additional studies at New Orleans
Baptist Theological Seminary, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and
Kelly has been active in Rotary Club for many years. He also sings with the Singing
Men of Texas (South East group). Kelly enjoys reading and studying presidential
history and biographies of musicians and musical groups.
Student Pastor & Communications Director - Carlos Tovar
Carlos is a native Houstonian and a graduate of University of Houston Downtown, having received a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with a Minor in Communications. In addition to his work with Garden Oaks Baptist, he works full-time as an Independent Media Professional, specializing in Independent Motion Picture Production.
Carlos and his wife Stacie enjoy spending time with family and exploring Houston's diverse collection of entertainment venues with close friends and their dog, Cinnamon.
Children's Ministry Directors - Dan & Melissa Tomlin
Dan was born in South Carolina and lived in various places growing up as his father was in the Navy. He came to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and was baptized at the age of 10. Dan obtained a Bachelor of Science in Technical Management at Devry University. He was the youth leader at Turner Baptist Church for 5 years.
Dan has been a member of GOBC since 2012. He has 6 children and believes children should be raised in a Christ-centric environment.
Maintenance Manager - Damasio Cervantes
Damasio comes to Garden Oaks Baptist after a career within the local school district working as a Plant Manager for various school campuses throughout the Greater Houston Area.
Damasio loves working at the church, overseeing the Building & Grounds Team. When he's not on-campus, he spends time with his brother and family.
Ministry Assistant - Becky Momberger
Becky is a native Houstonian, having graduated from the University of St. Thomas with a Bachelor of Arts in Vocal Performance. Becky's son and daughter, Edwin and Emily, each reside in Houston, as well as grandson Edwin.
Becky worked for ESPN, sang with the Houston Symphony Chorus for 23 years and served at both Terrace United Methodist and Chapelwood United Methodist churches as church secretary and business manager.
