For the past 78 years, Garden Oaks Baptist Church has been a fixture at the juncture of the Garden Oaks, Oak Forest and Heights neighborhoods. The church has seen many changes over the years and has continued to move forward with the changing times, always seeking to stay sensitive to the changing face of the community we seek to serve.
For the past 3 years, the Garden Oaks church family has spent much time in prayer and conversation, seeking direction as to how to update and strengthen our facility to keep pace with the growth and evolution of the surrounding community.
Part of this ongoing discussion has been the parking lot across the street, which Garden Oaks Baptist Church purchased in 1973. For a number of years, the parking lot has sat vacant and was only recently repaved. While this helped, it is still largely unused.
Well over a year ago, the Garden Oaks Baptist Church congregation voted unanimously (across generational and socioeconomic lines) to make the parking lot available for sale. During the process, Garden Oaks Baptist Church has been mindful of our neighbors and the larger community, and when we had the opportunity to sit and talk with Patrick Barry and other members of the Gulf Coast Commercial Group team, more and more of our leadership felt at peace that Patrick and his team would make good neighbors moving forward.
It is our pleasure to begin sharing the plans and the process for moving forward with an exciting new development which will provide new life and convenient options for area families.
On this page you will find each and every document necessary for our neighbors and as always, you can contact Jim Coit or Carlos Tovar at the church office at (713) 864-4447 during regular business hours.
We thank you for the opportunity to interact with you and we look forward to many years serving the community and being valued, good neighbors.
