Joy Class

Come join us! We would be blessed to have you join us as we study God's Word, seeking to become more like Jesus in our daily lives.

About Us

"But prove yourselves doers of the Word and not merely hearers who delude themselves." James 1:22
The Joy Class is a group of women of all ages—some single, married, divorced, or widowed. The Joy Class meets on Sunday mornings at 9:45 in Room 203 for opening assembly with the men's Roundtable Class. We spend this time in song, praise and prayer for immediate and long-term needs, as requested.

Bible Study

We use the Lifeway series of the Southern Baptist Convention as the basis for daily Bible study and discussion on Sunday morning. This class stresses life questions and learner outcomes.

Shepherds and teachers are Bennie Partain, Sue Elsenbrook, and Connie Catalani.

Class Meetings

Class meetings are held at 7:00 p.m. on the first Tuesday after the first Sunday in a member's home or the church library. This is a time of planning projects, conducting business, sharing praises and problems, praying for special needs of members and others as requested, a devotional and fellowship. (See calendar for more details.)

Evangelism & Missions

Ways to share Christ in the community and world is the primary focus for outreach projects. Some of our projects include the following:

  • Thanksgiving basket to three needy families
  • Christmas gifts for three families
  • Star of Hope
  • New Neighbor Outreach program

Special Projects

The Joy class often joins with the men's Roundtable class to meet these needs:

  • Financial aid and items to GOBC members and their children as well as special cases in the community (school supplies, school uniforms, camp fees, clothing, etc.)
  • Support of GOBC youth and activity programs, as needed
  • Partnership with Hispanic Mission for special events
  • Food preparation for special events, funerals, Wednesday fellowship suppers, etc.

Bible study follows seperately for the Joy Class and men's Roundtable. Some members attend this weekly Bible study while others teach in different departments.
